On going to bed at the same time and upping my toothbrush game

This post was sponsored by quip, all opinions are my own.
Earlier in our marriage, Justin and I didn’t always go to bed at the same time. He was still in undergrad and often studied late on campus. And then when my sister and I started our jewelry business, I would stay up late into the night watching Netflix while making jewelry.
It wasn’t a problem for us, but we just didn’t make it a priority to go to bed at the same time! Since having kids, we’ve gotten in the habit of shutting down for the evening together. Neither of us like to stay up late anymore, plus he gets up around 5 AM to go to the gym every morning. So usually around 8:45pm or so we’ll head upstairs to get ready for bed. Since we both run our own businesses from home, we use this time in the evening to talk through what the next day holds and who will spend what time with the kids. I have to say that at this point it feels strange to miss this part of our evening together, and it’s hard to imagine a season when we didn’t do this!
Justin has been an electric toothbrush user for almost 10 years, but I could never get into it because the vibration bothered my extremely sensitive teeth. Occasionally I would try it, but I could never persevere past the discomfort and tingling feeling from the toothbrush “tickling” my teeth and gums.
So I was very excited to try quip because I read that these electric toothbrushes were a good option for sensitive teeth! Their vibrations are sensitive because most vibrations have been found to be too abrasive, even for average teeth. Now that I’ve used it for a little over a month, I have zero discomfort with the quip toothbrush. I’m even brushing for a full 2-minutes, due to the built in timer, and brushing evenly because it pulses every 30 seconds to remind me when to switch sides. It didn’t even require an adjustment period!

If you aren’t familiar with it, quip is an electric toothbrush that is slim and streamlined in design but also backed by over 10,000 dentists, hygienists and students as an effective and recommended toothbrush. They offer a 30 day riskfree trial, and even give you an opportunity to sign up for refill plan where they will send a new brush head every 3 months, which is the frequency recommended by dentists to replace your brush. If you are anything like me you want to automate everything possible in life so you don’t have to be bothered with remembering to replace the brush head!

It comes with a AAA battery so it’s ready to use the same day it arrives. No need to charge it! The bristles are soft and the vibration is similar to a “sensitive” mode that you may find on another electric toothbrush. There are also gum stimulators around the edge of the brush head that are soft and flexible as well. quip starts at just $25, which is a steal in the electric toothbrush category!

I’m glad that I finally found an electric toothbrush that works for me. Between the two of us, Justin is borderline “extreme” when it comes to his dental care, he even owns some of the same tools that the hygienist uses at cleanings! I feel like I’ve upped my game now with quip, and he even swapped out his other electric toothbrush for a quip as well.
